The Chestnut Inn Bed and Breakfast, Newport, RI

TAKE A WALKING TOUR OF “THE POINT” - Newport is a beautiful and proud city with a rich history that spans over 350 years. The author presents an exciting and inspiring history of the colonial and later houses on the Point section of the city and the people who built them and currently live in them.

"The Point" Of Newport, RI by Eileen G. Nimmo

Some of these houses span the period from before the American Revolutionary War to the 21st Century. The people who lived in these houses gave the city its initial character and direction. The author's intent is to educate, to entertain, to explain, to honor the past and its people, and to record the simple and seemingly important and unimportant moments of human existence.

The Chestnut Inn Bed & Breakfast is the Home of the Author of "The Point" of Newport, RI. The book written by Eileen G. Nimmo, in collaboration with John L. Nimmo, is a historical review of the houses and the incredibly talented artisans of the 18th century (and sometimes infamous pirates) who lived in them. For example: Newport is the only city in the United States to accept a donated building from a wealthy pirate of the 1700's (or any other period) in our nation's history. Potter Elementary School on Elm Street was donated by a pirate to the City of Newport to be used as a school.
